Radio Wave Energy Extraction Experiment
GOAL
To extract energy from the ether (air) via radio waves.
METHOD
This experiment is based on tuning in to a high powered Mexican radio station
located on Mt.San Antonio near Tijuana. It is an AM station operating on a
frequency of 1090 khz, call letters XEPRS.
The idea was to extract energy using an unpowered radio connected to an antenna about 80 feet long.
The energy was rectified via 1n34 diodes which have low voltage drop and charge several
1 farad 5.5 volt super capacitors.
Regular batteries could not be used due to their
low internal resistance.
A demo board was also constructed that lights a led light using the stored
Charge from the super capacitors (see image to the left).
RESULT
While charging took a few days, the energy was there night and day compared to solar power that is only available during daylight hours.
